Accessibility

Our Commitment

We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to ensure we provide equal access to all users.

Accessibility Standards

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more usable for everyone. We also take into account the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) and the harmonized standard EN 301 549.

Accessibility Features

kratkinovini is a web service and includes the following accessibility features:

Visual Accessibility

  • Adjustable Text Size: Adjust text size from small to extra large.

  • Bold Text Option: Enable bolder text throughout for improved readability.

  • High Contrast Mode: Enhanced color contrast for users with low vision.

  • Dark Mode: A dark theme to reduce eye strain, including automatic system-based switching.

  • Dyslexia-Friendly Font: Switch to OpenDyslexic, a typeface designed to increase readability for readers with dyslexia; when enabled, all text uses this font.

Motion and Animation

  • Reduce Motion: Minimize animations and transitions.

  • Respects System Settings: Automatically honors your browser or operating system's reduced-motion preference, including for decorative animations in the live TV player and the hot-news center.

Navigation and Input

  • Keyboard Navigation: Full keyboard support.

  • Skip Links: Skip-to-main-content links for keyboard users.

  • Focus Indicators: Clear visual indicators for focused elements.

Screen Reader Support

  • Semantic HTML: Proper heading structure and landmarks for easy navigation.

  • Alternative Text: Descriptive alt text for images.

  • ARIA Labels: Appropriate labels for interactive elements, including the notification bell, the live TV controls, and the hot-news center.

Content Accessibility

  • Clear Language: News summaries are written in clear, concise language.

Accessibility of Interactive Features

Our interactive features are built to be operable with a keyboard and a screen reader:

  • Live TV (KNTV): The player's controls (play/start, mute, enlarge, and close) are keyboard-focusable and labeled. Decorative "live" animations respect your reduced-motion preference. As live video, it does not currently include synchronized captions — see Known Limitations.

  • Hot-news center: The bell announces the number of unseen items, and each item in the panel is a labeled, focusable control.

  • Install and notifications: The install and notification controls are labeled and keyboard-operable.

  • News embed and screenshot share: Shared and embedded news is delivered as text-based, semantic content wherever possible.

How to Customize Your Experience

  1. Open the "Accessibility" control in the footer.

  2. Adjust text size, enable bold text, switch to the dyslexia-friendly font, or change the theme.

  3. Your preferences are saved automatically on your device.

Known Limitations

We are aware of the following limitations and are actively working to address them:

  • Some third-party content (embedded videos, external images) may not fully meet accessibility standards.

  • Live TV video does not currently provide synchronized captions.

  • Older news content may not have complete alt text for all images.
